ARAVEN 4.5 L Polypropylene Colander

A colander separates food from cooking liquids or rinse water by letting the liquid drain through perforations while holding the solids inside. The bowl shape and evenly spaced holes create a large surface area, so the liquid flows away quickly without trapping food particles. This method avoids the need to lift or tip heavy pots, reducing spills and speeding up kitchen tasks such as draining pasta, blanching vegetables or washing salad leaves. To use the colander, place it in a sink or over a container. Pour the contents of the pot or pan into the colander; the liquid passes through the holes and the food remains inside. Once drained, the food can be transferred directly to a serving dish or back into the cooking vessel. The colander's round form and smooth interior make it easy to shake or stir the contents for even drainage. The colander is made of polypropylene, a material that withstands repeated exposure to hot liquids without warping or degrading. The thickness of the plastic gives the bowl rigidity, so it does not flex or crack under the weight of a full load. The base is flat, allowing the colander to rest securely on a worktop or inside a sink without tipping. The size of 280 mm diameter and 123 mm height provides a 4.5 litre capacity, which suits standard batches of pasta, vegetables or salad for a professional service. The footprint fits inside most commercial sinks, and the height is low enough to slide beneath a standard tap for rinsing. The polypropylene surface shrugs off tomato stains and resists the scrubbing brush in a busy kitchen sink. Polypropylene resists staining and does not absorb odours, so a wash in hot water with detergent removes food residue. The smooth surface and lack of crevices prevent build-up, and the colander can be placed on the top rack of a dishwasher for sanitising. Regular inspection of the perforations ensures no food particles remain trapped, maintaining hygiene and drainage efficiency.
