Shelving that grows with the space available in a professional kitchen or food storage area, eliminating the need for fixed-width units. The telescopic supports slide smoothly to match the width of cupboards, walk-in chillers or preparation benches, so a single unit replaces multiple sizes and avoids the cost and delay of custom fabrication.
The principle is simple: two parallel rails carry the weight of the shelves and allow them to extend or retract without sagging. Each shelf is perforated to let air circulate freely around stored containers, reducing condensation and maintaining consistent temperature and humidity. This airflow is critical in food environments where trapped moisture can encourage bacterial growth or spoilage.
To use the unit, the operator unpacks the flat-packed components, assembles the anodised aluminium frame, and slides the polypropylene shelves into place. The telescopic rails are then adjusted to the desired width and locked. Once set, the shelves can be loaded with trays, boxes or loose items up to the rated capacity. When the space requirement changes, the operator unlocks the rails, slides them to the new width, and relocks them—no tools or additional parts are needed.
Construction is two materials: anodised aluminium for the frame and polypropylene for the shelves. Aluminium resists corrosion in humid or wet environments, while polypropylene is lightweight, non-toxic and unaffected by food acids or cleaning chemicals. Both materials are chosen to meet food-safety standards and can be washed repeatedly without degrading.
The controls are minimal: a locking mechanism on each telescopic rail secures the chosen width. The shelves themselves are removable for cleaning; they fit in a standard commercial dishwasher, which ensures thorough sanitation without manual scrubbing.
A width range of 139 to 184 cm means the unit spans the gap between standard worktop depths and wider storage cupboards, allowing it to be installed in most professional kitchens without modification. The 48 cm depth matches typical tray and container sizes, so items sit flush without overhang. The 167 cm height provides multiple shelf levels within reach of an average operator, maximising vertical storage without requiring steps or ladders.
Cleaning is straightforward: shelves are lifted out and run through a dishwasher, while the aluminium frame is wiped down with a damp cloth and food-safe sanitiser. The perforations prevent debris from collecting on the shelf surface, reducing the time spent on daily upkeep.
The unit is supplied flat-packed in a compact box with a carrier handle, making it easy to transport and store before assembly.
This shelving is categorised under adjustable storage solutions for food environments, aligning with HACCP hygiene programmes and the CODEX ALIMENTARIUS guidelines for safe food handling.
