Floor drains efficiently remove water from surfaces, directing it to the sewage system. Commonly used in kitchens, food processing, and hospitals, they often need to be stainless steel for hygiene standards. In restaurant kitchens, they are crucial near boiling pans to manage cleaning water. Proper drainage enhances safety by reducing the risk of accidents from hot liquids and other hazards.
Drain channels with a side-mounted siphon collect and direct wastewater away from kitchen floors without breaking the surface continuity. A single welded stainless steel channel forms a sealed trough that slopes gently towards the outlet, ensuring water flows freely without pooling. The side siphon prevents odours and sewer gases from rising back into the kitchen, while the flat channel design allows seamless integration with the surrounding floor finish.
The channel is installed level with the finished floor, its side walls fitted with levelling pins to align it precisely. Once positioned, the channel is sealed and the floor material—tile, vinyl or standard—is laid up to the chosen edge profile. Wastewater enters through a mesh grating placed over the channel, filtering out debris before it reaches the siphon. The siphon traps a small volume of water, creating an airtight barrier that blocks gases from the drainage system. A DN100 stainless steel pipe connects the siphon to the building's waste line, carrying the water away.
Each channel is constructed from AISI 304 stainless steel, welded into a single hermetic unit. The steel thickness ranges from 0.8 mm to 2.0 mm, providing strength without excessive weight. The flat base slopes towards the outlet, eliminating standing water and reducing slip hazards. Side walls include levelling pins for accurate alignment during installation. The outlet is finished with a siphon and a DN100 pipe, ready for connection to the drainage system.
Controls are minimal: the operator selects the appropriate mesh grating—smooth or anti-slip—and places it over the channel. The grating rests on the channel edges, allowing water to pass while preventing larger debris from entering. The siphon requires no adjustment; it functions automatically once connected to the waste line.
The adjustable length of 510 mm to 2500 mm and width of 300 mm to 400 mm allow the channel to fit different kitchen layouts. The length is cut on site to match the exact run required, while the width accommodates varying floor finishes. The weight of the channel depends on its dimensions, but the stainless steel construction ensures it remains manageable for installation teams. The footprint is determined by the chosen length and width, making it adaptable to tight or expansive kitchen spaces.
Cleaning involves removing the mesh grating and rinsing the channel with water to clear debris. The siphon should be checked periodically to ensure it retains water and remains free of blockages. The stainless steel surface resists corrosion and staining, requiring only routine washing to maintain hygiene. Edge profiles are selected based on the floor finish—standard, vinyl or tiled—ensuring a flush, professional appearance.
Variants include different edge profiles for standard, vinyl or tiled floors, and optional mesh gratings in smooth or anti-slip finishes with varying mesh sizes. The product is categorised under drainage systems for professional kitchens.
