A floor drain collects wastewater from kitchen floors and directs it into the drainage system while preventing odours and pests from rising back through the outlet. This two-piece unit forms a sealed channel that sits beneath the finished floor, with a central siphon that traps water to block sewer gases. The flat channel slopes towards the outlet, ensuring water flows away without pooling, and the welded construction keeps the joint watertight under heavy use.

The operator installs the channel first, levelling it with the pins on the side walls so the fall to the outlet is even. Once the floor finish is laid, the grating is dropped into place, flush with the surrounding surface. Wastewater runs across the grating, down the channel and through the siphon into a DN100 stainless steel pipe. The siphon's water seal remains intact as long as the drain is used regularly; if the kitchen is closed for several days, the trap may need topping up to maintain the barrier.

The channel is fabricated from AISI 304 stainless steel between 0.8 mm and 2.0 mm thick, welded into a single hermetic unit. Side walls carry levelling pins that adjust the channel's height before the floor is finished. The outlet pipe is sized at DN100 with an external diameter of 108 mm, matching standard drainage fittings. Edge profiles are available for three common floor finishes: standard, vinyl and tiled, so the grating sits level with the surrounding material.

A 400 mm by 400 mm footprint fits neatly between floor joists or under standard worktop runs, leaving room for adjacent equipment. The stainless steel construction resists corrosion from water, detergents and food acids, and the welded seams eliminate leaks that could compromise a watertight floor.

Cleaning involves lifting the grating and flushing the channel with hot water to remove debris. The siphon should be checked weekly for blockages; if the water seal drops below the minimum level, the trap must be refilled. Mesh gratings are removable for scrubbing or replacement, and the smooth or anti-slip surfaces can be chosen to suit the kitchen's hygiene and safety requirements.

Variants include edge profiles for standard, vinyl or tiled floors, and gratings with different mesh sizes or surface textures. The unit is recommended for any kitchen with a watertight floor that must meet hygiene regulations.
