A kitchen hunting lodge is a self-contained mobile unit built to bring full catering capability to remote sites. It provides a worktop, storage cupboards and all services needed to prepare, cook and serve meals outdoors, where a permanent kitchen is not available.
The principle is a rigid, weatherproof structure on wheels or skids, fitted with a hob, grill, sink and tap, and powered by bottled gas or a generator. Hot water is supplied by a small boiler or instantaneous heater, and waste water is collected in a tank beneath the sink. The interior is organised as a galley: one side holds the cooking equipment, the other side holds cupboards and shelves for ingredients, utensils and crockery. A serving hatch or fold-down counter allows food to be passed directly to guests without leaving the lodge.
To use the NN88, the operator positions the lodge on level ground, connects the gas supply or generator, and fills the fresh-water tank. The hob and grill are lit, the water heater is switched on, and the waste tank is checked for capacity. Once the lodge is operational, the worktop is loaded with ingredients, the cupboards are stocked, and cooking proceeds as in a fixed kitchen. At the end of service, the gas is turned off, the waste tank is emptied, and the lodge is cleaned and secured for transport.
Construction is a welded aluminium frame clad in insulated panels, giving a balance of strength and light weight. The floor is non-slip aluminium treadplate, and the roof is pitched to shed rain. Doors and hatches are sealed with rubber gaskets to keep out dust and insects. The unit is towed by a vehicle or moved with a forklift, depending on its weight and the terrain.
The NN88 is classified as a mobile catering unit in the BHS.LV catalogue, placed under outdoor and event equipment.
