A professional tanning unit designed for controlled UV exposure in salon settings. The unit emits a calibrated spectrum of ultraviolet light, stimulating melanin production in the skin to produce an even, long-lasting tan without direct sunlight. The process relies on low-pressure fluorescent lamps positioned above and below the user, ensuring consistent coverage across the body. Adjustable reflectors direct the light to minimise shadowed areas, while a timer regulates session duration to prevent overexposure.

The operator positions the unit on a stable, level surface, then adjusts the height of the canopy to accommodate users of different statures. Once the user lies on the acrylic bed, the canopy is lowered into place, enclosing the tanning area. The session begins when the timer is set, and the lamps illuminate automatically. After the programmed duration, the lamps switch off, and the canopy can be raised for the user to exit.

The frame is constructed from lightweight aluminium, allowing the 14.1 kg unit to be moved between rooms or repositioned within a salon. The acrylic bed and canopy are formed from clear, UV-transparent material that resists yellowing and cracking under prolonged exposure. The footprint of 1950 mm by 710 mm fits within standard salon treatment rooms without requiring permanent installation.

Height adjustment is manual, with a telescopic mechanism that locks at the desired setting between 270 mm and 410 mm. The unit does not include integrated ventilation, so the room must be adequately ventilated to maintain user comfort during sessions.

Cleaning involves wiping the acrylic surfaces with a soft cloth and a mild, non-abrasive cleaner after each use to remove oils and residues. The lamps require periodic replacement as their UV output diminishes over time, though the unit itself has no moving parts that demand routine lubrication or adjustment.
