A gas lava stone grill heats food by radiant heat from glowing lava stones. The stones sit above a U-shaped burner tube that spreads the flame evenly across the cooking surface. As the stones absorb and hold heat, they release it steadily, searing food with dry, intense heat while imparting a smoky aroma that charcoal or open flames cannot match.
The operator lights the grill with piezo ignition, then adjusts the flame to the desired level. Two grille height positions allow control over cooking intensity: lower for faster searing, higher for gentler heat. Food is placed directly on the ribbed lava stone slabs, which measure 312 by 483 mm each. A removable tray beneath the stones collects fat and juices, keeping the workspace clean.
The CGPLD is built in stainless steel for durability and easy cleaning. It comes with two lava stone plates, each weighing 5 kg, which distribute heat evenly and retain it through service. The U-shaped burner ensures consistent temperature across both slabs, preventing hot or cold spots.
Controls are simple: a gas valve regulates the flame, while the piezo igniter provides a spark without an external lighter. The two grille height settings are adjusted by lifting and repositioning the grille frame.
A 15 kW power rating means the grill draws a significant gas load, requiring a dedicated gas line sized for commercial use. The 660 mm width and 540 mm depth fit standard worktop spaces, while the 220 mm height allows comfortable operation without excessive bending. At 32.8 kg, the unit is stable on a counter but light enough to move with two people.
Cleaning involves removing the lava stones and fat tray, then wiping the stainless steel surfaces. The stones themselves need occasional brushing to remove food debris, but should not be washed with water. The tray is dishwasher-safe or can be cleaned by hand.
The CGPLD is supplied ready for natural gas, with butane injectors included for conversion if needed. No other variants are listed.
This grill is categorised under professional gas cooking equipment, specifically lava stone grills.
