A contact grill presses food between two heated plates, sealing in juices and creating even grill marks on both sides at once. The top and bottom plates transfer heat directly into the food, cooking it faster than an open grill or griddle. This method keeps moisture inside, so burgers, steaks and paninis stay tender while developing a crisp outer crust.
The operator lowers the top plate onto the food, which sits on the bottom plate. An adjustable thermostat sets the temperature between 60 °C and 300 °C, letting the grill handle delicate fish at low heat or sear meat at high heat. A built-in timer tracks cooking time, freeing the chef to work on other tasks. When the timer sounds, the top plate lifts, and the food is ready to serve or hold. A grease drip tray catches fat and juices, keeping the worktop clean and reducing flare-ups.
The grill is built in stainless steel, which resists corrosion and stands up to daily cleaning. The top plate measures 375 by 273 millimetres, the bottom 375 by 287 millimetres, giving a large surface for batch cooking. A safety thermostat cuts power if the temperature rises too high, protecting the appliance and the kitchen.
The 2.4 kilowatt power rating means the grill draws a steady load on a 230 volt circuit, so it needs its own dedicated socket in a professional kitchen. The 29 kilogram weight keeps the unit stable on the worktop while allowing two people to move it for cleaning or storage. The footprint of 425 by 580 millimetres fits on most worktops, leaving space for prep and plating.
A cleaning brush is included for daily upkeep. The grease tray slides out for emptying and washing. The plates are wiped down after each service, and the stainless steel body is cleaned with a damp cloth and mild detergent. The timer runs on two AAA batteries, which are replaced as needed.
The Casselin contact grill with timer is listed in the professional cooking equipment section of the catalogue, under countertop grills and griddles.
