Casselin CVBRE1 Cold Display Case for Worktop Use

A cold display case keeps prepared food chilled while presenting it to customers. The unit draws heat away from the interior through a eutectic plate, a sealed steel panel filled with a phase-change material. As the material freezes, it absorbs heat from the food above, maintaining a safe holding temperature without a compressor or power supply. The porcelain serving plate sits directly on the eutectic plate, spreading the chill evenly across the surface where dishes are placed.

The operator loads the porcelain plate with plated food, slides the tempered glass cover into place, and leaves the case on the worktop. The eutectic plate continues to chill the contents for several hours, depending on ambient temperature and how often the cover is opened. When the food is removed, the case is unplugged and the eutectic plate recharges overnight in a freezer, ready for the next service.

Construction is black epoxy-painted steel, giving a durable, easy-clean finish. A stainless steel drip tray beneath the eutectic plate catches condensation, preventing spills onto the worktop. The removable tempered glass cover slides off for cleaning and allows full access to the interior.

Controls are minimal: the case is either plugged in to recharge the eutectic plate or unplugged for service. No thermostat or power switch is fitted, as the eutectic system regulates temperature passively.

The 380 mm width fits neatly on most worktops, while the 460 mm depth provides ample display space for plated dishes. At 17 kg, the case is light enough to move by hand between service and storage, yet stable enough to remain in place during use. The 395 mm height allows customers to view the food without stooping, while keeping the unit low enough to slide under standard shelving.

Cleaning involves wiping the porcelain plate, steel drip tray and glass cover with a damp cloth. The eutectic plate itself requires no maintenance beyond overnight recharging in a freezer. The black epoxy exterior resists stains and can be cleaned with a mild detergent.

The CVBRE1 is a single model with no variants. It is designed for worktop use in cafés, delicatessens and buffet services where a compact, unpowered chilled display is needed.
