Refrigerated buffet display case with 3 porcelain plates. Dimensions: 980 x 460 x 395 mm
A cold display case keeps prepared food chilled while making it visible and accessible to customers. Instead of mechanical refrigeration, the CVBRE3 uses eutectic plates—solid blocks charged with a phase-change material that absorbs heat as it melts. This method delivers steady, silent cooling without compressors, making it suitable for front-of-house areas where noise and vibration would be disruptive. The plates recharge overnight when the unit is plugged in, ready to maintain temperature throughout service.
To set up, the operator places the three steel eutectic plates and three porcelain serving plates inside the case. Food is arranged on the porcelain plates, which provide a stable, easy-to-clean surface. The removable tempered glass cover slides into place, creating a sealed yet visible display. During service, the eutectic plates gradually absorb ambient heat, keeping the interior cool without power. A stainless steel drip tray beneath the plates collects condensation, preventing spills onto the worktop.
The case is built from black epoxy-painted steel, chosen for durability and resistance to scratches and corrosion in a busy kitchen. The tempered glass cover is both shatter-resistant and easy to lift for quick access or cleaning. All components—plates, drip tray, and cover—are designed to be removed for thorough cleaning, reducing the risk of bacterial growth.
With a footprint of 980 mm wide, 460 mm deep, and 395 mm high, the CVBRE3 fits neatly on a counter or worktop without occupying excessive space. Its 35 kg weight allows it to be moved by two people when necessary, though it is intended for stationary use during service. The absence of a power cord during operation eliminates trip hazards and frees up sockets for other equipment.
Cleaning involves removing the glass cover, plates, and drip tray, then wiping all surfaces with a sanitising solution. The porcelain plates can be washed in a commercial dishwasher, while the eutectic plates require only a surface wipe to avoid damaging their sealed construction. Regular defrosting of the drip tray prevents ice build-up and ensures consistent cooling performance.
The CVBRE3 is part of Casselin's range of front-of-house refrigeration, designed for cafés, delicatessens, and buffet services where chilled food must remain safe and appealing without the noise or bulk of compressor-driven units.
