A smooth electric griddle spreads heat evenly across a solid steel plate, letting chefs sear, grill and fry without hot spots. The plate sits over electric elements that convert current into radiant heat; the steel absorbs and holds that heat, transferring it steadily to food. Because the surface is flat and unbroken, it suits delicate items like eggs and pancakes as well as burgers and steaks, while the adjustable thermostats let the operator set different temperatures for each side of the plate.
To start, the operator positions the two grease drip trays beneath the front edge of the plate, then switches on the power. Each thermostat is set independently, one for the 3.2 kW zone and one for the 2.4 kW zone, anywhere from 140 °C to 300 °C. A safety thermostat cuts the supply if the temperature climbs beyond the set point. Once the plate reaches the chosen temperature, food is placed directly on the smooth surface, cooked, and removed with a spatula. Grease and juices run off the plate into the drip trays, which can be lifted out for emptying and cleaning.
The griddle is built from stainless steel, chosen for its resistance to corrosion and ease of cleaning. The cooking surface is a single solid steel plate measuring 900 mm by 400 mm, giving a large, uninterrupted area. Two adjustable thermostats control the heating zones, while a safety thermostat prevents overheating. The unit stands on four adjustable feet, allowing it to be levelled on uneven floors.
The dual power ratings of 3.2 kW and 2.4 kW mean the griddle draws a substantial load, requiring its own dedicated circuit on a 230 V supply. The 60 kg weight indicates a sturdy, freestanding unit that does not need wall mounting but must be positioned carefully to avoid moving once in place. Its footprint of 900 mm by 588 mm takes up a significant portion of a worktop, so it is best suited to kitchens with ample counter space.
Cleaning involves scraping the plate while it is still warm, wiping it down with a cloth, and removing the grease drip trays to empty and wash them. The stainless steel exterior can be wiped with a damp cloth and mild detergent. The solid steel plate should not be soaked or scrubbed with abrasive pads, as these can damage the surface over time.
It is designed for professional use in commercial kitchens, where consistent heat and durability are essential.
