A gas grill that infuses food with the smoky, mineral notes of volcanic rock. The CGPL uses a bed of lava stones heated by a U-shaped burner tube. As fat and juices drip onto the glowing stones, they vaporise instantly, enveloping steaks, kebabs, fish and vegetables in a distinctive chargrilled aroma that a plain metal grill cannot match.
The operator lights the burner with the built-in piezo ignition, then adjusts the two grill-height positions to control the intensity of the heat. A stainless-steel tray beneath the stones collects excess fat, keeping flare-ups to a minimum and making the grill easier to clean after service.
The construction is stainless steel throughout, housing a 5 kg lava stone plate that covers the entire cooking surface. The slab measures 312 mm by 483 mm, giving a compact footprint of 330 mm front to back, 540 mm side to side and 220 mm high. At 17.5 kg, the unit is light enough to move between worktop and storage without a trolley, yet stable on a solid surface.
The 6.5 kW gas input draws from a standard catering gas line; the grill comes pre-equipped for butane and includes natural-gas injectors for immediate connection. No electrical supply is needed, so the grill can be positioned anywhere a gas tap is available.
After cooking, the lava stones are left to cool, then brushed free of residue. The stainless-steel tray lifts out for washing, and the grill bars can be removed for thorough cleaning. The lava plate itself requires only occasional brushing to maintain its porous surface and prevent build-up of old fat.
The CGPL is listed in the Casselin counter-top chargrill section of the professional catering catalogue.
