A plate stand keeps hot plates, trays or serving dishes off the worktop while they wait for service. Instead of stacking crockery directly on the counter, the stand holds each piece on a separate shelf, letting air circulate underneath. This prevents condensation from forming on the base of the plate, so food stays at serving temperature without becoming soggy. The shelves are spaced so that even large platters or lids can be placed without touching the one above, reducing the risk of spills or burns when the operator reaches for them.
To use the stand, the operator slides each hot plate or tray onto one of the shelves, starting with the lowest. The porcelain shelves are designed to withstand repeated contact with hot crockery without cracking or discolouring. The tempered glass shelf at the top provides a clear surface that makes it easy to check the contents of the plate below without lifting it. Once loaded, the stand can be moved to the pass or the hot cupboard, keeping the worktop clear for the next task.
The frame is made of steel tube painted with black epoxy, a finish chosen for its resistance to heat and moisture in a busy kitchen. Two porcelain shelves measure 200 mm by 200 mm, each with a raised edge to help contain spills. The tempered glass shelf sits above them, completing the three-tier arrangement.
The overall footprint of 560 mm by 495 mm fits neatly beside a standard hob or under a pass shelf, while the 360 mm height allows the operator to reach the top shelf without stretching. At 7.8 kg, the stand is light enough to be carried by one person but stable enough to resist accidental knocks during service.
Cleaning is straightforward: the porcelain and glass shelves lift off the frame, so they can be washed in the sink or dishwasher. The epoxy-painted steel frame wipes clean with a damp cloth, and the smooth finish prevents grease from sticking.
The Casselin METI plate stand is listed in the catalogue under hot-holding and service equipment, where it is grouped with pass-through units and heated shelves.
