A monoblock refrigeration unit keeps the entire cooling system self-contained in a single module mounted on the top of the cabinet. This design eliminates the need for separate condensing units and long refrigerant lines, reducing installation complexity and freeing up space beneath the worktop. The evaporator coil sits inside the cabinet, while the compressor and condenser are housed above, allowing heat to dissipate directly into the room without requiring external ducting.

Off-cycle defrost works by temporarily stopping the compressor when frost builds up on the evaporator. During this pause, the coil warms naturally to room temperature, melting the ice without electrical heaters. Once the frost clears, the compressor restarts automatically, restoring cooling. This method avoids the energy spikes of heated defrost cycles and keeps the cabinet temperature more stable, reducing fluctuations that can shorten the shelf life of stored food.

The operator loads the refrigerator by opening the two full-height doors. Inside, six removable epoxy-coated shelves accept GN 2/1 gastronorm trays, allowing bulk ingredients, prepped dishes or plated portions to be stored in standardised containers. The shelves slide along adjustable rails set at 60 mm increments, so the spacing can be tailored to the height of each load. A digital control panel on the front sets the target temperature between 0 and 8 °C; an LED display shows the current reading, while internal LED lighting illuminates the entire chamber for clear visibility. The doors close with ergonomic handles and seal tightly to maintain the set temperature.

The cabinet is built from stainless steel inside and out, chosen for its resistance to corrosion, ease of sanitising and durability under constant use. A 60 mm layer of insulation surrounds the chamber, reducing cold loss and helping the unit maintain temperature even in warm kitchens. Four adjustable legs, each with a height range of 130 to 200 mm, allow the refrigerator to be levelled on uneven floors and create clearance for cleaning underneath.

The cooling power of 0.436 kW reflects the load the unit places on the electrical circuit; in a professional kitchen, this rating helps determine the number of appliances that can run simultaneously on a single spur. The 1144 litre volume provides storage for large batches of ingredients or finished dishes, while the 270 kg weight indicates that the unit must be positioned on a solid floor and moved with a pallet truck or similar equipment. The footprint of 1318 by 796 mm defines the floor space the refrigerator occupies, which must be planned into the kitchen layout alongside worktops and circulation paths.

Cleaning involves removing the six shelves and wiping down the stainless steel interior with a sanitising solution. The monoblock module on top is designed for easy access to the condenser and evaporator, allowing routine maintenance without dismantling the entire unit. The off-cycle defrost system requires no manual intervention, but the drain channel should be checked periodically to ensure condensate flows freely.

The refrigerant is R600a, a hydrocarbon with low global warming potential, supplied in a 60 Hz version for compatibility with standard UK electrical systems. An optional refrigerant kit is available for separate purchase.

The refrigerator is classified as C energy efficiency, reflecting its annual consumption of approximately 756 kWh. This rating helps kitchen planners estimate running costs and compare models when selecting equipment for large-scale catering operations.
