The body is made of rubber wood - light but durable.
A wooden salt mill grinds coarse salt crystals into fine or medium grains by crushing them between two ceramic surfaces. The mechanism turns as the operator rotates the handle, breaking the crystals without metal contact that could corrode or taint the salt. Ceramic stays inert, so the flavour remains pure and the grinding edges stay sharp for consistent particle size.
The mill stands on the worktop or is held in one hand. The operator unscrews the handle, fills the chamber with coarse salt, then screws the handle back until it locks the lid in place. Turning the handle clockwise drives the ceramic shredder, releasing salt through the base. The embossed letter S on the handle marks the mill for salt, preventing mix-ups in a busy kitchen.
The body is made of wood, finished in white. The grinding mechanism is ceramic, fixed in place and non-adjustable, giving a uniform grind size. The lid is secured by the screw-on handle, so it cannot fall off during use or cleaning.
The mill measures 55 mm in diameter and 215 mm in height, taking little space on a shelf or next to the stove. It weighs 0.21 kg, light enough to pass between stations without strain.
Cleaning is limited to wiping the wooden body with a dry cloth and brushing salt residue from the ceramic mechanism. The lid and handle are removed only for refilling, never for routine cleaning.
