A gyros meat shovel transfers slices of rotating meat from the vertical spit to the worktop without tearing or dropping. The broad, shallow blade slides under the cooked portion while the spit turns, lifting the meat cleanly so the next slice can brown evenly. The flat surface also holds the meat steady while it is portioned or served, preventing burns and spillage in busy service periods.
The operator positions the shovel beneath the lowest slice, tilts it slightly to match the angle of the spit, and lifts the meat away in one smooth motion. Once clear of the heat, the shovel can be laid flat on the worktop or passed directly to the plating station. The foldable handle shortens the tool for storage inside a drawer or on a utensil rail, keeping the kitchen organised.
The blade is pressed from 18/0 stainless steel, a grade chosen for its resistance to corrosion and staining when exposed to meat juices and cleaning chemicals. The handle is moulded from phenol-formaldehyde resin, a heat-resistant plastic that remains cool to the touch and does not absorb odours or bacteria. Both materials are approved for direct contact with food.
Overall dimensions of 230 mm by 175 mm give a blade large enough to support a full portion of gyros meat, while the 80 mm depth prevents the meat from sliding off during transfer. The 100 mm handle keeps the operator's hand clear of the hot spit and the rotating meat.
After use, the shovel is washed in hot water with a mild detergent, rinsed and dried. The stainless steel surface can be sanitised with standard kitchen chemicals without risk of pitting or discolouration. The resin handle is wiped clean and left to air-dry.
The shovel is supplied as a single unit; no additional parts or accessories are required.
