IGLOO LUNA 3180 mm Confectionery Showcase for Supermarkets

A refrigerated confectionery showcase designed to turn supermarket aisles into impulse-buy displays without needing an external refrigeration unit. The LUNA 3180 mm model creates a low, open-front cabinet that keeps chilled products at a steady temperature while making them highly visible to shoppers.

Refrigeration in this type of showcase relies on a built-in cooling aggregate that circulates chilled air through ventilated ducts. The dynamic, fan-assisted airflow ensures an even temperature across every shelf, preventing warm spots that could spoil delicate confectionery. A natural refrigerant, R290, is used for its low environmental impact and efficient heat transfer, which helps maintain the set temperature with minimal energy.

The operator loads the shelves with products, sets the desired temperature on the electronic controller, and the unit begins cooling automatically. LED lighting above the cabinet and on each shelf illuminates the display, while a night roller blind can be pulled down to protect the contents when the shop is closed. Automatic defrost cycles remove ice build-up without manual intervention, and the condenser automatically vaporises any moisture, reducing maintenance. An alarm alerts staff if the condenser becomes clogged or the fans fail, ensuring the unit remains operational.

The cabinet is constructed from ecological polyurethane foam insulation sandwiched between an aluminium frame and side glass panels. The glass can be silk-screened in black, white or grey to match the shop's branding. Price strips in a matching colour run along the front edge of each shelf, and the LED lighting can be set to white, confectionery or meat tones to enhance the appearance of the products.

Controls include an electronic temperature controller with a digital display, allowing precise adjustment between +2 °C and +10 °C. The voltage requirement of 230 V at 50 Hz means the unit plugs into a standard single-phase circuit, making it suitable for most supermarket layouts. The 3180 mm length provides ample display space for multiple product lines, while the 660 mm depth keeps the cabinet compact enough for narrow aisles. The 1440 mm height ensures products are at eye level for most shoppers, encouraging impulse purchases.

Cleaning involves wiping down the glass panels and shelves with a mild detergent, while the automatic defrost and condenser vaporisation reduce the need for manual ice removal. The night roller blind protects the interior from dust and debris when the shop is closed, minimising daily upkeep.

The LUNA range allows for the creation of display islands by linking multiple units together, offering flexibility in shop layout. This model is categorised as a plug-in refrigerated showcase, designed for impulse sales in supermarkets and smaller retail formats.
