A chilled display cabinet keeps prepared food at safe serving temperatures while presenting it to customers. The unit circulates cold air with a fan, drawing heat away from the shelves and maintaining an even temperature throughout the cabinet. This forced cooling prevents warm spots and ensures every item stays within the required range, protecting both quality and food safety without freezing the products.

The operator loads the shelves with plated dishes, salads, desserts or pre-packaged items. Once the cabinet is switched on, the automatic defrosting cycle runs at set intervals, melting any ice that forms on the evaporator without manual intervention. Night blinds are pulled down to reduce energy use when the premises are closed, cutting the cooling load while still protecting the contents. LED lighting above the shelves illuminates the display, highlighting colours and textures without adding heat.

The cabinet is built on a powder-coated steel frame. The sides are either double-glazed or solid, with a mirror-steel interior that reflects the contents and a powder-coated steel exterior for durability. Five rows of adjustable shelves allow the operator to reconfigure the display for different heights and quantities of food. The expansion valve regulates refrigerant flow, maintaining steady cooling performance even when the door is opened frequently.

Controls are minimal: a thermostat sets the temperature between +2 °C and +8 °C, covering the safe range for chilled ready-to-eat food. The automatic defrosting programme runs without user input, and the night blind is operated manually when needed.

A footprint of 1250 mm by 680 mm fits standard worktop depths and allows the cabinet to be positioned against a wall or island. The 2.9 m² useful surface provides space for multiple dishes without crowding, while the 220 kg weight ensures stability and requires two people or a trolley to move the unit. The 2000 mm height allows clear visibility across the counter, making it easy for customers to see and reach items.

Cleaning involves wiping the shelves and interior surfaces with a damp cloth and mild detergent. The mirror-steel finish resists fingerprints and smudges, reducing daily upkeep. The night blind should be cleaned periodically to remove dust, and the exterior steel panels can be wiped down to maintain appearance.

The YORK 125/70 is available in three configurations: without doors for self-service counters, with sliding doors for energy efficiency in high-traffic areas, or with hinged doors for easy access in smaller kitchens. Each model retains the same dimensions, cooling system and shelving.
