LF Flat Carbo Gasket for Espresso Machines

A flat carbo gasket creates the pressure-tight seal between a portafilter basket and the group head of an espresso machine. The gasket sits in a circular groove inside the group, its outer edge pressed against the rim of the basket. When the portafilter is locked in place, the gasket compresses slightly, preventing water from escaping around the sides and forcing it through the coffee puck instead. Without this seal, pressure drops, extraction weakens and the shot runs unevenly.

To replace the gasket, the portafilter is removed and the old gasket is pried out of its groove. The new flat carbo gasket is positioned in the same groove, ensuring it lies flat and even all the way round. Once seated, the portafilter is re-inserted and locked; the first shot tests the seal for leaks.

The gasket is cut from a flat sheet of carbon-fibre composite material, chosen for its resilience and resistance to heat and oils. Its dimensions—57.8 mm outer diameter, 50 mm inner diameter and 3 mm thickness—match the groove profile of the specified group heads.
