A stovetop coffee maker that brews rich, espresso-style coffee by passing hot water pressurised by steam through ground coffee. The lower chamber holds cold water, which heats on the hob until steam pressure forces it up through a funnel and the coffee basket into the upper chamber. The result is a strong, aromatic coffee without electricity or paper filters.
Fill the lower chamber with cold water up to the valve. Place finely ground coffee in the basket without tamping, then screw the upper chamber on tightly. Set the maker on a medium hob; as the water heats, steam builds, pushing the water through the coffee and into the top chamber. When the gurgling stops, the coffee is ready to pour.
The unit is made of aluminium with a red enamel finish. The base and top chambers screw together, and the basket sits between them. A small valve on the lower chamber releases excess pressure.
Controls are limited to the hob setting, which regulates the heat that drives the process. The size fits a standard gas or electric hob and stores easily in a cupboard.
The 3-cup capacity serves three small espresso-style cups per brew. The compact footprint takes minimal worktop space and allows storage in a drawer or shelf.
After use, unscrew the chambers, rinse with warm water and dry. The aluminium construction requires no special cleaning agents, but abrasives should be avoided to protect the enamel finish.
This model is the 3-cup size in red. The same design is available in other colours and capacities.
The catalogue places it under stovetop coffee makers, alongside electric espresso machines and filter coffee equipment.
