A solenoid valve controls the flow of water in commercial kitchen and laundry appliances by opening or closing an electrical circuit. When current is applied, the coil inside the valve generates a magnetic field that lifts a plunger, allowing water to pass through the inlet. When the current stops, the plunger drops back into place, sealing the valve and stopping the flow.
