Three cams rotate continuously, each pressing a microswitch that opens or closes a circuit. The pattern of raised and recessed lobes on each cam determines how long each stage lasts, allowing the oven to move automatically from pre-heat to cooking to holding without manual intervention.

To set the timer, the operator turns the central knob until the pointer aligns with the desired programme number. Once the oven door is closed and the main power switched on, the timer motor begins turning the cams. The first cam starts the fan and heating elements; the second cam can introduce steam or increase temperature; the third cam reduces power for a holding phase. After the 6-minute cycle completes, the timer resets and the oven returns to standby.
