pipe ø 8 mm
A Y fitting splits a single gas line into two branches without interrupting flow. The body is shaped like the letter Y, so the incoming pipe divides smoothly into two outlets at an angle that keeps pressure even. This design prevents turbulence and pressure drops that could starve appliances further down the line. In a professional kitchen, the fitting is used where one gas tap must feed two appliances—such as a hob and a grill—without installing a second supply line.
The fitting is installed by screwing each threaded end into the corresponding pipework. The operator first shuts off the gas, drains the line, then tightens the fitting with a spanner until the joint is gas-tight. Once the system is repressurised, a leak test confirms the seal. The Y shape allows both branches to be used simultaneously, so two appliances can run at once without affecting each other's performance.
Construction is brass, chosen for its resistance to corrosion and its ability to form a reliable seal under gas pressure. The threads are standardised to match British gas pipework, ensuring compatibility with existing installations. No additional seals or compounds are required beyond the metal-to-metal contact of the threads.
The fitting is a spare part for gas systems and fits LF and other professional catering equipment that uses the same thread standard.
