Smooth plate 350x570 mm
A gas grill with a smooth plate transfers heat directly from the burner to a flat, unbroken surface. The burner fires beneath the plate, raising its temperature evenly across the entire cooking area. This method gives a consistent sear without the ridges of a ribbed grill, making it suited for foods that need a flat contact surface: pancakes, eggs, fish fillets and delicate vegetables. The heat spreads by conduction from the plate to the food, so the operator can control the intensity by moving items closer to or further from the centre where the burner is strongest.
To use the grill, the operator first checks that the gas supply is connected and the valve open. The control knob is turned to the ignition position, then pressed to spark the burner. Once lit, the knob is adjusted to the desired flame level, which sets the plate temperature. Food is placed directly on the smooth plate; there is no need for a separate tray or basket. The operator watches the food, turning or moving it as needed to achieve even cooking. When finished, the knob is turned to off, the gas supply closed, and the plate left to cool before cleaning.
The grill is constructed with a stainless steel body and a cast iron smooth plate. The dimensions of 400 mm depth, 714 mm width and 250 mm height allow it to fit on most worktops without overhang. The 43 kg weight means it is moved with a trolley or by two people, not carried by hand. The 5.5 kW gas power rating indicates the load on the gas supply; a professional kitchen will need a dedicated gas line capable of supplying this demand continuously.
Cleaning involves scraping the cooled plate with a metal spatula to remove food debris, then wiping with a damp cloth. The stainless steel exterior is wiped with a mild detergent solution. The cast iron plate should be lightly oiled after cleaning to prevent rust, following the standard procedure for cast iron cookware.
The MAGISTRA PLUS 700 is placed in the catalogue under gas grills, smooth plate models.
