A salamander toaster applies radiant heat from above to finish dishes rapidly without flipping them. The heating elements emit intense heat downward, browning cheese, melting toppings, or crisping the surface of grilled items. Since the heat comes only from above, the food remains moist underneath while the top develops colour and texture.
Food is placed on the chromium-plated steel grid, then the movable upper plate is adjusted to control the distance from the heat. A selector enables heating only half the surface, allowing small batches to be toasted without energy waste. The elements tilt upward for cleaning, exposing the drip tray below, which collects drips and is easily removed. The insulated aluminium handle remains cool, and a safety stop prevents the grid from sliding out unintentionally.
The toaster is constructed entirely of stainless steel, featuring Incoloy armoured heating elements that resist corrosion and endure high heat. The drip tray and grid are removable, with the grid equipped with heat-resistant handles for safe handling. Thermal insulation keeps the outer surfaces cooler and minimises heat loss. Optional wall-mounting brackets can be requested, enabling the toaster to be hung above a worktop to save counter space.
The power rating suits a dedicated circuit in professional kitchens. The voltage matches standard UK electrical setups. The width fits neatly above most worktops, while the weight requires two people for safe lifting and positioning. The footprint allows placement on a counter or wall-mounted above a preparation area.
Cleaning involves tilting the heating elements up, removing the drip tray and grid, and wiping the stainless steel surfaces. The Incoloy elements can be brushed clean without harming their protective coating. The chromium-plated grid and drip tray are dishwasher-safe for thorough cleaning.
