A bain-marie keeps sauces, soups and gravies at serving temperature without scorching. The Hot Marmite I uses a low-wattage heating element beneath a fixed stainless-steel container. Water in the outer jacket is heated gently; the resulting steam transfers warmth evenly to the inner vessel, preventing hot spots and keeping contents fluid for hours.
To start, fill the outer jacket with water to the level mark inside. Place the food in the inner container, close the hinged lid and set the thermostat between 30 °C and 90 °C. The pilot light glows while the element is active, cycling on and off to maintain the chosen temperature. When service ends, switch off, allow the unit to cool, then lift the lid to remove the container.
The casing is 270 mm deep, 350 mm wide and 240 mm high, built from brushed stainless steel. A single on/off switch and a rotary thermostat control power and temperature. The 8 kg weight keeps the unit stable on a worktop or counter.
The 230 V supply matches standard UK kitchen circuits, while the 1 kW rating draws a modest load. The 240x300x150 mm container holds enough for continuous service without refilling. After use, wipe the stainless surfaces with a damp cloth; the hinged lid lifts clear for access to the inner corners.
The Hot Marmite I is listed in the Neumarker counter-top bain-marie section.
