A melon cutter divides whole melons into uniform wedges without crushing the flesh. The operator places the melon on the circular base, aligns it with the central spike, and presses the hinged cutting grid down through the fruit. The grid's intersecting blades slice the melon into equal portions in a single motion, reducing preparation time and ensuring presentation consistency across servings.
To use the cutter, position the melon on the base plate so the stem end faces upward. The central spike pierces the core, holding the melon steady. Lower the cutting grid until the blades pass completely through the fruit, then lift the grid and remove the wedges. The hinged design allows the grid to swing clear for easy removal of the cut pieces.
The cutter is constructed from stainless steel, including the base, spike, cutting grid and hinge assembly. Stainless steel resists corrosion from fruit acids and moisture, and withstands repeated cleaning cycles in a commercial dishwasher.
The 270 mm diameter base accommodates large melons up to that width, while the 430 mm overall height provides clearance for the grid to open fully. The 3 kg weight keeps the unit stable on a worktop during use without requiring permanent fixing.
Cleaning involves rinsing the base and grid under running water to remove pulp and seeds, then placing the parts in a commercial dishwasher. The hinge and spike should be checked periodically for trapped debris and wiped clean with a damp cloth.
