A manual cutter that turns whole potatoes and oranges into uniform wedges without pre-peeling. The operator places the fruit in the hopper, presses the lever, and the stainless-steel blades slice through the flesh in a single stroke, producing wedges of equal thickness every time.
The principle is a fixed grid of blades arranged in a star pattern. When the lever is pressed, the fruit is forced through the grid by a descending plunger. The blades cut along the natural radius of the fruit, so each wedge has the same angle and depth. This method avoids the unevenness of hand-cutting and the crushing that can occur with rotating blades.
To use the cutter, the operator lifts the lever to its highest position, loads one potato or orange into the hopper, then presses the lever down firmly until it reaches the stop. The wedges fall into a waiting container beneath the grid. The process repeats for each piece of fruit.
Construction is a welded stainless-steel frame with a cast-aluminium hopper and a hardened-steel blade assembly. The lever pivots on sealed bearings to reduce friction and wear.
The controls consist of a single lever that sets the cutting stroke. There are no settings to adjust; the stroke length is fixed by the frame.
The size of 390 mm wide, 350 mm deep and 400 mm high gives a compact footprint that fits on a standard worktop or shelf. The weight of 2 kg allows the unit to be moved by one person without a trolley.
Cleaning follows from the materials: the stainless-steel frame and aluminium hopper can be wiped with a damp cloth and a mild detergent. The blade assembly is removable for thorough washing; the manufacturer advises rinsing it immediately after use to prevent starch or citrus residue from hardening.
The catalogue places the L05-90284 in the vegetable-preparation section, alongside peelers, chippers and manual slicers.
