A manual tomato cutter divides whole tomatoes into equal slices without crushing the flesh. The unit holds a grid of stainless steel blades; the operator presses the tomato through the grid with a plunger. The number of blades sets the number of slices: eight blades give eight slices, four blades give four, and six blades give six. The method keeps the seeds and juice inside the slices, so the tomato stays firm for sandwiches, salads or garnishes.
To use the cutter, the operator lifts the plunger, places a whole tomato on the grid, and presses the plunger down until the tomato passes through the blades. The slices fall onto the worktop or into a container below. The grid can be removed for cleaning or to change the number of slices.
The Neumarker tomato cutter is built as a single stainless steel frame with a plastic plunger handle. The blades are fixed in a removable grid that locks into the frame. The footprint of 260 mm by 380 mm fits on a standard worktop, and the height of 582 mm allows the operator to press the plunger without stooping.
The unit weighs 3 kg, so it stays in place during use but can be lifted onto a shelf or into a cupboard when not in service. The blades are sharp enough to cut tomatoes cleanly but require no electrical supply, so the cutter can be used anywhere in the kitchen.
Cleaning is done by removing the blade grid and washing it under a tap or in a sink. The frame and plunger are wiped with a damp cloth. The blades must be dried immediately to prevent corrosion.
The catalogue lists the cutter under manual vegetable preparation equipment.
