A drawer that slides beneath a coffee grinder to collect spent grounds without spilling onto the worktop or floor.

Coffee grinders eject fine, oily particles every time beans are ground. Without a dedicated catchment, these grounds scatter across the counter, cling to surfaces and can be drawn into ventilation systems. The drawer intercepts the falling particles at the point of discharge, using a shallow, open-topped container that the grinder sits directly above. Gravity does the work: grounds drop straight down, the drawer holds them, and the operator removes the drawer to empty it without lifting the grinder or disturbing the setup.

To use the drawer, the operator first cuts a standardised opening in the worktop to the stated dimensions. The drawer slides into the opening on full-extension runners, so the front edge aligns flush with the worktop front. The grinder is then placed on top, centred over the drawer's open mouth. Once grinding begins, the drawer collects every particle that falls through the grinder's chute. When the drawer is full or the shift ends, the operator pulls the drawer forward, lifts it out, empties the grounds into waste or compost, and slides the drawer back into place.

The drawer is constructed from stainless steel, chosen for its resistance to coffee oils and ease of cleaning. The front panel is a single sheet that matches the depth and height of the drawer box, giving a seamless appearance under the grinder. No controls are fitted; the drawer is a passive collection unit that requires no power or settings.

The 360 mm width allows the drawer to fit beneath most professional grinders without overhang, while the 400 mm depth provides enough volume to hold a full shift's grounds without frequent emptying. The 180 mm height keeps the drawer shallow enough to slide under the grinder's base, yet deep enough to prevent overflow. Cleaning is straightforward: after emptying, the drawer is wiped with a damp cloth to remove residual oils, then dried to prevent staining. No disassembly is required, and the stainless steel surface resists corrosion from the acidic compounds in coffee grounds.
