A drop-in cold surface creates a chilled worktop area directly within a kitchen counter, keeping ingredients and prepared items at a steady low temperature without occupying floor space. The system circulates refrigerant through internal coils beneath a flat, food-safe surface. As the refrigerant evaporates, it absorbs heat from the surface and the surrounding air, lowering the temperature to the set point. This continuous cycle maintains a consistent chill, preventing bacterial growth and preserving the texture and flavour of perishable foods during preparation.
The unit is installed by cutting a precise opening in the worktop to the specified dimensions, then lowering the cold surface into place so its rim sits flush with the surrounding counter. Once connected to the power supply, the appliance starts cooling immediately. The matte stainless steel surface provides a hygienic, non-slip area for slicing, portioning or assembling dishes. A drainage tap inside the unit allows condensation to be removed without lifting the surface, while the remote control lets the operator adjust settings without opening the unit.
The operator loads ingredients or prepared items directly onto the chilled surface, where they remain at -5 °C. The 1425 mm width accommodates a standard 4GN 1/1 gastronorm tray, allowing bulk items to be chilled in a container that fits commercial refrigeration and storage systems. The 0.59 kW power rating indicates a modest electrical load, suitable for a dedicated circuit in a professional kitchen. The 510 mm depth and 600 mm width ensure the unit fits within standard worktop depths while leaving space for adjacent equipment.
Constructed from stainless steel, the cold surface resists corrosion and is easy to sanitise. The internal drainage system prevents water pooling, reducing the risk of slips and contamination. The flush installation creates a seamless worktop that integrates with existing kitchen workflows, eliminating the need for separate chilling stations.
Cleaning involves wiping the surface with a sanitising solution after each use, while the drainage tap allows periodic removal of condensation. The unit's compact footprint and low profile make it suitable for kitchens with limited space, while the -5 °C temperature range supports safe food handling for cold preparations like salads, desserts and garnishes.
Available with an optional rim that sits level with the worktop surface, the cold surface can be customised to match the kitchen's aesthetic and ergonomic requirements.
