BHS stainless steel shelf for equipment placement. Durable construction, available in various sizes, manufactured according to individual drawings and projects.
An equipment shelf provides a fixed, level platform for heavy appliances and containers in a professional kitchen or food-production area. The shelf is mounted on wall brackets that transfer the weight directly to the building structure, removing the need for legs on the floor and keeping the work area clear. This method gives a higher load rating than a freestanding unit of the same size and allows the shelf to be positioned at the exact height the operator needs, without wasted space above or below.
The operator secures the wall brackets to the wall at the required height, ensuring each bracket is level and plumb. The three shelves are then slotted onto the brackets and locked into place. Heavy equipment or bulk ingredients are placed on the shelves, distributing the weight evenly across the full width to stay within the 50 kg load limit per shelf. The open construction lets air circulate freely, reducing condensation and making cleaning easier.
The shelf is constructed from stainless steel, chosen for its resistance to moisture, corrosion and repeated cleaning with commercial detergents. The material does not absorb odours or harbour bacteria, meeting the hygiene standards of professional food environments. The three-shelf configuration gives three separate load-bearing surfaces, each capable of supporting 50 kg, allowing the user to organise appliances, containers or ingredients at different working heights without overloading any single shelf.
The overall dimensions of 2490 mm wide, 500 mm deep and 999 mm high create a footprint that fits along a standard worktop or wall in a commercial kitchen. The 2490 mm width provides ample linear space for multiple appliances or large containers, while the 500 mm depth keeps items within easy reach. The 999 mm height allows the shelf to be positioned above a work surface or below overhead ducting without obstructing movement.
Cleaning is straightforward: the shelves and brackets can be wiped down with a damp cloth and commercial cleaner, and the open design prevents dirt from accumulating in corners. The stainless steel surface does not require painting or sealing, reducing maintenance time.
The Novameta 2490-5 is available in other widths and depths, and can be manufactured to individual drawings for bespoke installations. It is classified under equipment storage in the professional catering catalogue.
