Drop In Ice basin for bar station
An ice basin designed to drop into a worktop cut-out, keeping food chilled at serving temperature without refrigeration. The basin holds ice beneath a stainless steel liner, transferring cold through conduction while the surrounding insulation minimises melt. Water from melted ice drains through internal grooves to a threaded outlet, preventing pooling and maintaining hygiene during service.
The operator lowers the basin into a prepared aperture, ensuring the outer rim rests flush with the worktop surface. Ice is loaded into the inner compartment, and food containers or display trays are placed directly on the stainless steel liner. Removable GN partitions organise the space, allowing separate sections for different items. Sliding partitions adjust to fit varying container sizes, while a fixed stainless steel guide keeps them aligned. When service ends, the partitions lift out for cleaning, and the drain valve opens to release residual water.
Constructed from stainless steel, the basin has an inner compartment measuring 410 mm by 350 mm by 260 mm, with an outer shell of 418 mm by 350 mm by 268 mm. Thermal insulation between the inner and outer layers reduces ice melt, while drain grooves direct water to a G1/2 threaded outlet. The drop-in design allows the basin to integrate with any worktop material, and the stainless steel finish matches professional kitchen aesthetics.
Controls are limited to the drain valve, which opens and closes the G1/2 outlet. The inner dimensions accommodate standard GN containers, and the removable partitions adapt the space for different layouts. The outer measurements determine the cut-out required in the worktop, while the depth ensures sufficient ice capacity for extended service periods.
Cleaning involves removing the partitions, wiping the stainless steel surfaces, and flushing the drain grooves with water. The drain valve should be opened to clear any debris, and the basin dried before reloading with ice. The thermal insulation requires no maintenance, but the stainless steel liner should be checked for scratches that could harbour bacteria.
Variants include the DROP-IN 500 with fixed or sliding partitions, and the option of a stainless steel guide for GN containers. The basin fits any worktop with a compatible cut-out, and the drop-in design allows for easy removal or repositioning as kitchen layouts change.
