A quartz shell produces radiant heat by passing electricity through a coiled filament inside a clear, heat-resistant tube. The tube emits infrared energy, warming food directly without heating the surrounding air.
The operator installs the shell into the designated slot above the work area, secures it with retaining clips, and connects the lead to a compatible power supply. Once activated, the lamp reaches full output quickly and provides a consistent radiant field until switched off. No pre-heating or temperature adjustment is needed; the output is fixed by the lamp's wattage.
The kit includes a single quartz tube, a ceramic lamp holder, and a flexible lead with a standard connector. The tube is made of fused quartz, which transmits infrared energy efficiently. The holder is moulded from heat-resistant ceramic to insulate electrical contacts and prevent accidental contact with the hot surface.
The power rating determines the intensity of the radiant field and the electrical load. In professional kitchens, the unit draws a modest current, allowing it to share a circuit with other low-power appliances without overloading.
Cleaning involves wiping the quartz tube with a dry microfibre cloth once cooled. Water or detergent should not touch the tube or ceramic holder, as moisture can damage the filament or cause arcing. The lead and connector can be wiped with a damp cloth and dried immediately.
The kit replaces the original Novameta quartz shell in heated pass units, counter-top food warmers, and some heated display cabinets. It fits only equipment designed for a quartz lamp with the same connector type and mounting dimensions.
