A stainless steel table top creates a hygienic, durable work surface that withstands the daily demands of a professional kitchen. The flat metal plate resists heat, moisture and corrosion, while its smooth finish allows quick cleaning and sanitising between tasks. Unlike wooden or laminate tops, stainless steel does not absorb liquids, harbour bacteria or warp under hot pans, making it the standard for food preparation areas where hygiene and longevity are critical.
The pressed sandwich construction of this Novameta table top combines two thin stainless steel sheets with a rigid core. This method reduces weight without sacrificing strength, so the top remains stable under heavy loads while producing minimal noise when equipment or utensils are placed on it. The low-profile design, only 40 mm high, integrates seamlessly with other kitchen units, allowing staff to slide trays and containers across the surface without obstruction.
To install, the table top is positioned on a supporting frame or cupboard, then secured to prevent movement. Its 400 mm depth and 600 mm width provide a compact yet functional work area, suitable for tasks such as plating, portioning or assembling ingredients. The stainless steel surface reflects kitchen lighting, improving visibility during food preparation, and its non-porous nature prevents stains and odours from lingering.
The construction uses pressed stainless steel sheets bonded to a core material, forming a rigid panel that resists bending and denting. This heavy-duty build supports repeated use with commercial equipment, including hot pans, sharp knives and heavy mixing bowls, without deforming or losing its shape.
Cleaning involves wiping the surface with a damp cloth and a mild detergent, followed by drying to prevent water spots. The absence of seams or crevices eliminates areas where food debris could accumulate, reducing the risk of cross-contamination. For deeper cleaning, a non-abrasive stainless steel cleaner restores the original finish without scratching the metal.
Two width options are available: 650 mm with a 3% tolerance or 700 mm with a 5% tolerance. Both maintain the same 400 mm depth and 40 mm height, allowing the table top to fit standard kitchen layouts while accommodating different spatial requirements.
