ROCAM ATHENA MT Head Module with LED-Lit Niche

A head module designed to extend self-service counters or display areas, the ROCAM ATHENA MT combines a worktop with an integrated LED-lit niche. The niche provides illuminated display space, drawing attention to featured items while maintaining a continuous line with adjacent counters. Its construction allows it to serve as a terminating unit or a connecting element in a run of matching modules, adapting to the layout of professional food service areas.

The module operates as a static display and work surface. The LED lighting within the niche illuminates products placed inside, enhancing visibility without generating significant heat. This makes it suitable for showcasing prepared dishes, packaged goods, or decorative elements without risking spoilage or discomfort for staff working nearby. The worktop itself remains unheated and unpowered, providing a stable surface for temporary storage, plating, or customer interaction.

To use the module, position it at the end of a counter run or as a standalone unit. The niche is accessed from the front, allowing items to be placed or removed without obstruction. Optional accessories, such as folding dish holders or tray slides, can be attached to the sides or front, extending functionality without permanently occupying space. These accessories fold flat against the module when not in use, maintaining a clean profile.

The structure is built from laminated wood, chosen for its balance of durability and aesthetic flexibility. The finish is available in a wide range of colours, from neutral tones like white sand and grey fog to bolder options such as saffron and lime, allowing the module to match or contrast with existing kitchen decor. The base of the niche is coated with the same material as the worktop, ensuring visual continuity.

Controls are limited to the LED lighting, which is typically hardwired and operated via a switch on the underside of the module or through a central lighting circuit. No temperature or timing adjustments are required, as the niche serves purely as a display rather than a cooking or holding appliance.

The dimensions of 751 mm width, 504 mm depth, and 896 mm height define the module's footprint and vertical clearance. The width allows it to align with standard counter depths, while the height positions the niche at eye level for most users, maximising visibility. The depth provides sufficient space for the niche without encroaching on the worktop area.

Cleaning involves wiping down the laminated surfaces with a damp cloth and mild detergent, avoiding abrasive cleaners that could damage the finish. The LED lighting requires occasional dusting to maintain brightness, and the niche interior should be kept free of debris to prevent obstruction of the light. Optional accessories, such as the wooden dish holder or stainless steel tray holder, can be removed for separate cleaning.

Variants include a range of worktop coatings, such as contrasting Formica or stainless steel, and customisable feet options like aluminium-coated PVC or adjustable skirting. Additional accessories, including foldable tray slides and cable glands, can be specified at the time of order to tailor the module to specific operational needs.
