An electric stove heats a solid cast-iron plate by passing current through heating elements beneath its surface. The iron absorbs the heat and spreads it evenly, creating a stable cooking zone that responds quickly when the power is adjusted. This method gives direct contact between the pot and the heat source, so energy is transferred efficiently without the delays of radiant or convected heat. The result is fast, controlled cooking across the entire plate, suitable for large pots and continuous service.
To use the Roller-grill ELR5XL, the operator places a pot on the 400 mm square cast-iron plate and turns the adjustment knob to set the desired temperature. A pilot light shows when the elements are active. The four heating elements beneath the plate cycle on and off to maintain the chosen level, keeping the surface hot enough for boiling, simmering or holding food at serving temperature. Once cooking is complete, the knob is turned back to zero and the stove cools down.
The stove is built from stainless steel with a 400 x 400 mm cast-iron cooking plate. It stands on 100 mm high feet, raising the base above the worktop to protect the surface beneath. A single adjustment knob controls the power level, and a pilot light indicates when the elements are heating.
A 5 kW power rating means the stove draws a substantial load, requiring a dedicated 380 V three-phase circuit. This voltage is standard in professional kitchens and allows the stove to reach full power without overloading a single-phase supply. The 36 kg weight keeps the unit stable during use but still allows it to be moved by two people when necessary. The 600 x 600 mm footprint fits on most worktops, leaving space for adjacent equipment.
Cleaning involves wiping the stainless steel exterior and the cast-iron plate after each use. The 100 mm feet allow access beneath the stove for sweeping or mopping. The cast-iron surface should be seasoned periodically to prevent rust and maintain a non-stick finish.
The ELR5XL is a single model with no variants. It is listed in the professional catering equipment catalogue under electric stoves.
