A smooth gas grill transfers heat evenly across a solid steel plate, eliminating hot spots that scorch food while leaving other areas undercooked. The PSR400G from Roller-grill uses star-shaped gas burners positioned directly beneath the 10 mm decarbonised steel plate to distribute flame evenly across the entire 400 mm cooking surface. This method ensures that every part of the plate reaches the same temperature, allowing simultaneous grilling of multiple items without rotating or repositioning them.
To start, the operator connects the grill to a gas supply, opens the valve and presses the piezo ignition button. The adjustment knob sets the flame level, which in turn controls the plate temperature. After less than ten minutes of preheating, the plate is ready for cooking. Food is placed directly on the smooth surface; juices and fat run off into a removable stainless-steel drawer positioned at the front. The drawer can be taken out for emptying and cleaning, and is dishwasher safe.
The grill is operated with a single knob that adjusts the gas flow, regulating heat output. A safety thermocouple monitors the flame; if the flame goes out or gas leaks, the thermocouple automatically cuts off the gas supply, preventing unsafe build-up. Once cooking is complete, the gas valve is closed and the grill is allowed to cool. If rapid cooling is needed, the still-hot plate can be cooled with cold water or ice cubes.
The PSR400G is constructed with a 10 mm decarbonised steel plate mounted on a stainless-steel frame. The internal cooking area measures 400 by 400 mm, while the overall dimensions are 400 mm wide, 475 mm deep and 230 mm high. The grill weighs 22 kg, making it stable on a worktop or mobile stand while still light enough to be moved by one person. The 3.2 kW power rating indicates the gas load the grill places on the supply, which must be matched to the kitchen's gas line capacity.
Cleaning involves removing the fat drawer, wiping the steel plate with a scraper or cloth, and washing the drawer separately. The plate can be cooled quickly with water or ice to speed up the cleaning process after intensive use.
The PSR400G is categorised as a smooth-surface gas grill for professional catering and food trucks.
