Contact grill with a smooth bottom and a ribbed top plate.
A contact grill presses food between two heated surfaces, transferring heat directly from both sides at once. The corrugated plates create searing marks while the pressure squeezes out excess fat, giving a crisp finish without flipping. The upper plate floats on a height-adjustable hinge, so the same grill can handle thick steaks or thin fillets without crushing them.
To start, the operator lifts the cover, places the food on the lower plate, and lowers the cover until it rests gently on the food. The thermostat is set to the required temperature, and the grill heats the plates evenly. Once the indicator shows the plates are ready, the food cooks under steady pressure. The front frying pan catches any fat or juices that run off, keeping the worktop clean. When the food is done, the cover is lifted and the food removed.
The housing is stainless steel, resisting corrosion and standing up to daily cleaning. Both baking surfaces are made of cast iron alloy, chosen for its ability to hold and distribute heat evenly. The upper plate is mounted on a movable cover with a brake, so it stays at the set height without drifting down. A front frying pan collects drips and can be removed for cleaning.
The controls consist of a single adjustable thermostat that sets the temperature up to 250 °C. This range covers grilling, searing and finishing most meats, fish and vegetables.
The 3 kW power rating means the grill draws a steady load on a dedicated 230 V circuit, typical for professional kitchen equipment. The 28 kg weight keeps the unit stable on the worktop while still allowing it to be moved by two people. The footprint of 512 mm wide, 430 mm deep and 240 mm high fits on most standard worktops without overhang.
Cleaning involves wiping the plates with a grill brush or scraper while still warm, then washing the frying pan and housing with hot water and detergent. The cast iron plates should be lightly oiled after cleaning to prevent rust.
The GL-6 is a single pressure grill with mixed baking surfaces, placed in the catalogue under countertop grills.
