Double sized mixed contact grill with single cover in cast iron alloy
Smooth griddle + ribbed contact grill.
A contact grill presses food between two heated plates, sealing in juices and cooking both sides at once. The corrugated surfaces create grill marks and drain fat away, giving the texture and appearance of char-grilling without an open flame. The upper plate floats on a height-adjustable hinge, so the gap can be set for thin burgers or thick steaks without crushing them. A brake holds the plate at the chosen height while the food cooks, preventing it from lifting or slamming shut.
The operator lowers the upper plate onto the food, which sits on the corrugated lower plate. The thermostat is set to the desired temperature, up to 250 °C, and the grill heats both plates evenly. Once the plates reach temperature, the food cooks quickly, browning on both sides at the same time. The front frying pan collects any fat or juices that run off, keeping the worktop clean. When the food is done, the upper plate is lifted and the food removed.
The grill is built with a stainless steel housing that resists corrosion and is easy to wipe down. Both the upper and lower plates are made of cast iron alloy, which holds heat well and distributes it evenly across the surface. The plates are corrugated to create the grill marks and allow fat to drain away. The adjustable thermostat controls the temperature precisely, while the height-adjustable cover with brake lets the operator set the gap for different thicknesses of food.
The 2.9 kW power rating means the grill draws a significant load, so it should be connected to a dedicated circuit to avoid tripping other equipment. The 230 V voltage matches the standard supply in British commercial kitchens, so no special wiring is needed. The 30 kg weight means the grill is stable on a worktop but will need two people to move it safely. The footprint of 690 x 430 mm fits on most professional worktops, leaving space for preparation around it.
Cleaning involves wiping the stainless steel housing with a damp cloth and mild detergent. The cast iron plates should be cleaned with a scraper or brush while still warm, then wiped with a cloth to remove any residue. The front frying pan can be removed and washed separately. The height-adjustable cover should be checked periodically to ensure the brake mechanism is working smoothly.
The GLD-10 is a double-sized contact grill, meaning it has a larger plate area than single models, allowing more food to be cooked at once. The corrugated plates and adjustable thermostat make it suitable for a range of foods, from burgers and steaks to vegetables and panini.
