A contact grill presses food between two heated surfaces, transferring heat directly from both sides at once. The upper plate lowers onto the food, sealing in moisture while the corrugated cast iron plates create grill marks and speed cooking. This method cuts cooking time and gives even browning without flipping, making it suited for burgers, panini, steaks and vegetables that need quick, consistent results in a busy kitchen.
The operator places food on the lower corrugated plate, closes the height-adjustable cover and sets the thermostat. The brake holds the cover at the chosen height, allowing single-handed operation. A front frying pan collects juices and can be used for smaller items or sauces. The thermostat adjusts up to 250 °C, covering the range needed for searing, grilling and finishing.
The grill has a stainless steel housing that resists corrosion and wipes clean. Both upper and lower baking surfaces are made of cast iron alloy, chosen for its heat retention and durability. The lower plate measures 365 by 245 mm, giving enough space for multiple portions at once.
The 3 kW power rating means the grill draws a steady load on a dedicated 230 V circuit, typical for professional kitchen equipment. At 28 kg, the unit is heavy enough to stay stable on a worktop but can still be moved by two people. Its footprint of 512 by 430 mm fits standard work surfaces without overhang.
Cleaning involves wiping the stainless steel housing and removing the front frying pan to wash separately. The corrugated cast iron plates should be brushed while warm to lift residue, then wiped with a cloth once cooled. The adjustable thermostat and height mechanism need occasional checks to keep the cover moving smoothly.
The catalogue places the GLM-6 in the contact grills section, under countertop cooking equipment for professional kitchens.
