Smooth bottom and top plate.
An electric grill transfers heat through direct contact between food and heated plates. The VITRO GV-6LL uses glass-ceramic surfaces on both the upper and lower plates, which conduct heat evenly and allow the operator to cook items directly on the plates without additional trays or griddles. The lower plate is smooth, giving a flat cooking area for items such as burgers or fish, while the ribbed upper plate imparts sear marks and channels fat away from the food, replicating the effect of a traditional chargrill without an open flame.
To operate the grill, the user switches the unit on and sets the thermostat to the desired temperature, up to 300 °C. The glass-ceramic plates heat quickly, reducing the time between switching on and cooking. Food is placed directly onto the lower plate, and the upper plate is lowered into contact. The thermostat maintains the set temperature, allowing consistent results across batches. Once cooking is complete, the plates are lifted, and the food is removed. Any waste fat or juices drain into a removable collection drawer beneath the plates, which can be emptied and cleaned separately.
The grill is constructed with a stainless steel body and splashback, which resist corrosion and are easy to wipe down after use. The glass-ceramic plates are durable and can be cleaned with a scraper or damp cloth once cooled. The splashback prevents grease from reaching the surrounding worktop, and the waste drawer simplifies the removal of collected fat and debris.
The 3 kW power rating indicates the load the grill places on the electrical supply, requiring a dedicated 230 V circuit capable of handling the demand without tripping. The compact footprint of 465 mm by 440 mm allows the grill to fit on most worktops, while the 15 kg weight makes it stable during use but light enough to reposition if needed. The thermostatic control enables precise temperature management, suitable for cooking a range of items from delicate fish to hearty steaks, all within the same unit.
Cleaning involves wiping the glass-ceramic plates with a non-abrasive cloth once they have cooled, scraping off any residue. The stainless steel splashback and body can be cleaned with a damp cloth and mild detergent. The waste drawer should be emptied regularly to prevent build-up and odours. No additional maintenance is required beyond routine cleaning and ensuring the unit is dry before storage.
The VITRO GV-6LL is categorised under electric grills in the professional catering equipment range.
