Gas griddle plate with hard chromium plated surface.
A gas griddle heats a solid steel plate from below, transferring heat evenly across the entire cooking surface without the hot spots of an open flame. The smooth fry-top plate absorbs and holds the heat, letting the chef sear, grill or fry foods directly on the metal without a basket or tray. Because the heat is radiant and steady, the plate can handle delicate items like eggs or pancakes alongside robust meats and vegetables, all at the same time if the burners are controlled separately.
To use the SPC-601, the operator first checks that the gas supply is connected and the safety valve is clear. The two burners are lit individually, allowing the plate to warm gradually. Once the desired temperature is reached, food is placed directly on the 560 × 400 mm steel surface. The raised edge around the perimeter keeps oil and juices from spilling onto the worktop. When cooking is complete, the burners are turned off and the plate is left to cool before cleaning. The large drip tray beneath the plate collects excess fat and can be removed for emptying and washing.
The griddle is built from stainless steel throughout, including the burners which are coated with titanium for longer life. The baking surface itself is 15 mm thick steel, chosen for its ability to hold heat and resist warping under constant use. A safety valve on each burner shuts off the gas if the flame is accidentally extinguished, preventing unburned gas from accumulating.
The 5.8 kW power rating indicates the load the griddle places on the gas supply; in a professional kitchen this typically requires a dedicated gas line sized for the appliance. The 230 V electrical connection is used only for ignition and safety systems, not for heating. At 40 kg, the unit is heavy enough to stay stable on a worktop but can still be moved by two people when necessary. The footprint of 600 × 507 mm fits standard worktop depths and leaves room for side shelves or utensil rails.
Cleaning is straightforward: the drip tray slides out for emptying and washing, and the smooth steel plate can be scraped and wiped once it has cooled. The stainless steel body and burners resist corrosion and can be cleaned with standard kitchen degreasers. The titanium-coated burners require no special maintenance beyond keeping the ports clear of debris.
The SPC-601 is a single model with no variants. It is categorised under gas cooking equipment, specifically smooth fry-tops.
