This countertop machine lets you prepare, present and serve gelato directly in view of customers without needing a separate preparation area. A built-in freezing cylinder and mixing paddle work together to chill and aerate the mix, delivering the smooth texture of traditional gelato. Production is continuous: liquid mix enters at one end and finished ice cream is dispensed at the other, enabling steady service throughout trading hours.
To start, the operator pours the liquid mix into the hopper and selects the desired consistency on the control panel. The machine cools the cylinder to the required temperature, then the paddle begins rotating, scraping frozen product from the walls and blending it back into the centre. As the mix thickens, the unit maintains the chosen temperature and paddle speed. Once the ice cream reaches the correct firmness, it flows through the front tap into serving containers. A 4-litre reserve inside the cylinder ensures the next portion is ready immediately.
The cabinet features stainless-steel panels over a welded tubular frame. The freezing cylinder is made of food-grade stainless steel with a self-lubricating scraper. The exterior has a brushed stainless-steel finish that matches standard commercial refrigeration equipment. A full-length glass lid lets customers watch the process while keeping the product protected.
Controls include a digital touch panel for setting paddle speed, cylinder temperature and batch duration. A separate switch operates the compressor and paddle motor. Indicator lights display power status, cooling cycle and service alerts. The 230 V single-phase connection requires only a standard socket, simplifying installation in any retail setting.
The 1.25 kW power rating indicates the electrical load during peak cooling. The machine produces up to 15 litres of finished ice cream per hour. Weighing 97 kg, the unit needs two people to move safely.
Daily cleaning involves rinsing the hopper and cylinder with warm water and mild detergent, followed by sanitising with a food-safe solution. The scraper blade and paddle can be removed for thorough cleaning. The glass lid lifts off for interior access, and the stainless-steel surfaces are wiped down to maintain hygiene and appearance.
The GLS1 is a single model with no variants, designed specifically for front-of-house ice cream production and display in the STAFF Ice System 1959 range.
