FIFO CONTAINER
A FIFO container keeps vegetables in the order they are stored, so the oldest batch is always used first. The principle relies on a front-loading opening that lets staff slide produce in at the back and pull it out from the front without disturbing the sequence. This rotation prevents spoilage and makes stock checks quicker, as the newest items stay at the rear and the oldest at the front.
To use the container, the split cover is lifted to load vegetables at the back. The same cover is then opened at the front to remove the oldest items. The operator attaches one of the eight supplied colour clips to the lid and matching container, choosing from green, blue, yellow or red. These clips mark the contents, the date or the supplier, so staff can identify stock at a glance without opening the container.
The container is made of durable plastic, sized to fit standard kitchen shelving. Its dimensions of 415 mm long, 340 mm wide and 200 mm high create a 16 litre volume, giving enough space for bulk vegetables while keeping the footprint small enough for worktop or cupboard storage. The split cover is also plastic, designed to lift easily for loading and unloading.
Cleaning involves removing the cover and clips, washing the container and lid in warm water with standard kitchen detergent, and drying before reassembly. The clips can be wiped clean or washed separately to keep the colours bright and legible.
The container comes with a set of eight colour clips: two each of green, blue, yellow and red. These clips are compatible with other Stalgast FIFO containers that use the ColorClip system, allowing the same colour coding across different storage units in the kitchen.
