A cocktail glass holds mixed drinks that are served without ice, allowing the colour and clarity of the drink to be displayed. The wide, shallow bowl of the glass keeps the surface area large so aromas reach the nose quickly, while the stem lets the drinker hold the glass without warming the contents. This shape is standardised for stirred or shaken cocktails such as martinis, manhattans and cosmopolitans, where chilling and dilution are controlled by the mixing method rather than by ice in the serving vessel.
The glass is filled by pouring the prepared cocktail from a shaker or mixing glass, leaving a small gap at the rim to prevent spillage. The drink is presented immediately, and the guest lifts the glass by the stem to keep the temperature stable. After use, the glass is cleared and washed separately from tumblers or pint glasses to avoid chipping the delicate rim.
The Stalgast 280 ml cocktail glass is made of clear, annealed glass for strength and resistance to thermal shock. The rim is fire-polished for a smooth edge, and the base is flat for stability on bar tops and trays. The 73 mm diameter bowl and 155 mm overall height give a compact footprint that fits standard glass racks and under-bar storage while still holding a full 280 ml measure without overflow.
Cleaning follows standard bar glassware routines: wash in warm water with a mild detergent, rinse thoroughly to remove residue, and air-dry upside down on a rack to prevent water spots. The glass is not dishwasher-safe due to the risk of thermal stress and mechanical damage from other items.
