A food heating lamp keeps plated dishes at safe serving temperatures without further cooking. It directs infrared radiation downward from a quartz or halogen element, warming the surface of the food while leaving the interior unchanged. This method prevents drying, overcooking or cooling during service, making it essential for pass-through counters, carving stations and buffet lines.
The operator positions the lamp above the holding area, adjusts the height to clear plates or trays, and switches it on. Once powered, the element glows and radiates heat continuously until switched off. No thermostat or timer is involved; the lamp runs at full output whenever it is connected to the supply.
Construction is a metal housing with a protective grille beneath the element. The housing is finished in a heat-resistant coating, and the grille prevents accidental contact with the hot surface. A bracket or clamp allows mounting to a shelf, rail or overhead beam.
The 230 V supply matches the standard single-phase circuit used throughout commercial kitchens. The unit draws current continuously while in use, so it is typically switched at the wall or via a dedicated spur rather than left permanently live.
Cleaning is limited to wiping the housing and grille with a damp cloth once the lamp has cooled. The element itself is not user-serviceable and should not be touched or sprayed.
The catalogue places the 290M in the holding and display section, alongside heated shelves and pass-through warmers.
