A skimmer spoon removes foam, fat and debris from the surface of hot liquids without disturbing the stock or sauce beneath. The perforated bowl lets the liquid drain through while the impurities stay on the mesh, so each lift brings up only what needs to be discarded. The same holes also allow the spoon to skim oil in a deep fryer, lifting food clear of the fat without carrying excess oil back to the plate.

The operator lowers the bowl just below the surface, draws it gently across the liquid, then lifts and lets the contents drain before tipping the waste into a container. The curved handle keeps the hand clear of steam and splashes, and the one-piece construction means there are no seams or crevices where food can lodge.

This Stalgast skimmer is pressed from a single sheet of stainless steel, so the bowl and handle form one continuous piece. The absence of welded joints removes potential weak points and eliminates areas where dirt can collect, making the tool easier to clean and more hygienic in daily use.
