Oven mitts protect the hands and forearms from radiant and conducted heat when removing hot trays, tins and dishes from ovens, grills and salamanders. The insulating material slows the transfer of heat, allowing the operator to grip and lift items that would otherwise cause burns. A longer length extends coverage past the wrist, shielding the forearm from accidental contact with oven racks or hot surfaces.

To use, the operator slides one hand into each mitt, ensuring the cuff covers the wrist fully. The mitt is then used to grasp the hot item securely, lifting and transferring it to a worktop or cooling rack. Once the item is set down, the mitts are removed and hung or stored away from direct heat to preserve their insulating properties.

These Stalgast mitts are constructed from heat-resistant fabric rated to withstand continuous exposure to temperatures up to 250 °C. The 41 cm length provides extended forearm protection, reducing the risk of burns when reaching into deep ovens or handling large trays. The mitts are designed for repeated use in professional kitchens, where frequent handling of hot bakeware is routine.

The temperature rating of 250 °C determines the types of tasks the mitts can safely perform. They are suitable for removing bread, pastries and roasted meats from standard ovens, but are not intended for direct contact with open flames or surfaces exceeding their rated temperature. The length of 41 cm dictates the reach the operator has, allowing safe handling of items placed further back in the oven without exposing the forearm to heat.

After use, the mitts should be brushed clean of any food debris or grease. They can be wiped with a damp cloth if necessary, but should not be submerged in water or exposed to harsh detergents, as this can degrade the heat-resistant properties of the fabric. Regular inspection for signs of wear or scorching ensures continued protection during use.
