An ozone generator produces ozone gas by passing oxygen through a high-voltage electrical field. The ozone molecules break down pollutants, viruses, bacteria and fungi in the air, neutralising odours and disinfecting surfaces without chemicals. This method is used in professional kitchens, storage rooms and vehicles to maintain hygiene between deep cleans.
The unit is placed in the centre of the space to be treated. The operator sets the timer for the required duration, typically 30 to 90 minutes depending on room volume. Once started, the generator draws in air, converts a portion to ozone and circulates the treated air through the room. After the cycle completes, the room must be left closed for the ozone to work, then ventilated before re-entry.
The housing is made of stainless steel, resisting corrosion and allowing easy wipe-down after use. The controls consist of a power switch and a timer dial that sets the operating duration up to a maximum of 120 minutes.
A power rating of 0.1 kW indicates a light load suitable for a standard 230 V single-phase circuit, the type commonly found in commercial kitchens and storage areas. The 230 V supply matches the standard UK mains voltage, so no special wiring is required. The compact dimensions of 180 mm deep, 320 mm wide and 170 mm high allow the unit to be stored in a cupboard or on a shelf when not in use.
Cleaning involves wiping the stainless steel housing with a damp cloth to remove dust. The air intake should be checked periodically and cleared of any obstruction to maintain airflow. No consumables or replacement parts are specified for routine upkeep.
The generator is designed for one-time disinfection of spaces up to 100 m³, with an airflow rate of 80 to 100 m³ per hour. It is categorised under air purification and hygiene equipment in the professional catering catalogue.
